No tours to Pakistan possible before WC

LAHORE: PCB chairman Ijaz Butt has said the current spot-fixing investigation has diverted resources away from organising tours to Pakistan, and that there is now no space left in the calendar to accommodate a visiting team.
“The ICC Task Force was well on its way to bringing a MCC XI team to Pakistan in which two players of each cricket board were to be included,” Butt said.
“Moreover, Zimbabwe were also interested in sending their national team to Pakistan.
“The current spot-fixing scam, however, has diverted attention to other issues as work of inviting some teams to Pakistan could not be materialised, and there is no appropriate time left for such activities due to hectic schedule of Pakistan till the World Cup.”
Giles Clarke, chairman of the ICC’s Pakistan Task Force, had called for Pakistan to resume hosting international matches back in August and suggested that an ICC World XI would tour the country “in due course”.
Following the floods that devastated the country earlier this year, Zimbabwe offered to tour Pakistan to help raise money for the relief effort, and their visit was tentatively scheduled for November and early December. No international cricket has been played in Pakistan since the March 2009 terrorist attack on the Sri Lanka team. Last month the ICC decided to closely monitor the running of the game in Pakistan.

Yousuf regains fitness ahead of SA Tests

KARACHI: Mohammad Yousuf is looking forward to making his Pakistan comeback in the opening Test against South Africa in Dubai later this month after recovering from a hamstring injury that forced him out of the ongoing limited-overs series.
According to sources, the senior batsman has been passed fit by Pakistan Cricket Board’s medical experts and should join his teammates in the UAE ahead of the first Test which will begin from November 14.
Yousuf, 36, ruptured a muscle in his right leg during training last month and had to miss the one-day series against the Proteas.
The veteran batsman, who has played 90 Tests, 287 One-day Internationals and three Twenty20 Internationals, is currently training at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore for the two-Test series against South Africa.

Astronauts cast early ballots from space station

Red states. Blue states. And now voting from a weightless state.
The three Americans orbiting the planet on Election Day have cast their ballots.
Space station astronaut Scott Kelly voted Sunday via a secure e-mail system. Douglas Wheelock and Shannon Walker also voted recently 200-plus-miles up. Kelly said Tuesday it was an "honor and a privilege" to vote from the International Space Station.
As for the six shuttle astronauts headed soon to the space station, they voted back home in Houston before heading to NASA's Florida launch site last week. Discovery is scheduled to lift off Wednesday.
Texas legislators passed a bill in 1997 allowing astronauts to vote from orbit. Space station residents have taken advantage of that many times since.

Huge volcanic blast spurs more Indonesians to flee

A deadly Indonesian volcano spewing lava and smoke for more than a week erupted Wednesday with its biggest blast yet, shooting searing ash miles into the air as soldiers hastily evacuated villages and emergency shelters.
One scientist warned the worst may be yet to come.

Women screamed and children cried as they were loaded into trucks while rocks and debris rained from the sky. Several abandoned homes were set ablaze and the carcasses of incinerated cattle littered the scorched slopes.
No new casualties were reported immediately after the booming explosion, which lasted more than an hour.

"This is an extraordinary eruption, triple from the first" on Oct. 26, said Surono, a state volcanologist.
More than 70,000 villagers have been evacuated from the 9,700-foot (3,000-meter) Mount Merapi's once-fertile slopes since it began erupting just over a week ago, killing 38 people and injuring dozens, most with severe burns.
Almost all have packed into crowded camps well away from the base.
Djarot Nugroho, the head of Central Java's disaster management agency, said funding for the refugees would run out in five days unless a national disaster was declared.

There have been more than a dozen strong blasts in recent days -- including a smaller one Wednesday morning -- prompting some scientists earlier to say pressure building up behind a magma dome in the crater was slowly easing.
By nightfall, however, all bets were off.

The danger zone was widened from six miles to nine (10 kilometers to 15) from the glowing crater because of the heightened threat. Soldiers and police blocked all roads leading up the mountain, shooing away television crews and reporters.
The last eruption, which occurred during a heavy downpour, raised Merapi's status to "crisis" condition, said Andi Arief, a staffer in the presidential office dealing with the disaster.

Merapi, one of the world's most active volcanoes, has erupted many times in the last century, killing more than 1,400 people.
Indonesia, a vast archipelago of 235 million people, is prone to earthquakes and volcanos because it sits along the Pacific "Ring of Fire," a horseshoe-shaped string of faults that lines the Pacific.

As a reminder of that, a 6.0-magnitude quake hit waters off the eastern province of Papua on Wednesday evening, rattling several villages but causing no known damage or casualties. At the time, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton was wrapping up a visit to Papua New Guinea -- on the same island as Papua province. She was in the capital, about 1,000 miles (1,600 kilometers) east of the epicenter, and no shaking was felt there.

The volcano's initial Oct. 26 blast occurred less than 24 hours after a towering tsunami slammed into remote islands on the western end of the country, sweeping entire villages to sea and killing at least 428 people.

There, too, thousands of people were displaced, many living in government camps.
In both cases, relief operations are expected to take weeks, possibly months.
Helicopters and boats were delivering aid to tsunami survivors in the most distant Mentawai islands, more than 800 miles (1,300 kilometers) west of the volcano.
The islands, popular among surfers, lie almost directly over the fault that spawned the 2004 Indian Ocean monster quake and wave.
There has been talk in recent days about relocating villagers away from vulnerable coastlines.
"I'm all for it," said Regen, who lives on Pagai Utara island and goes by one name. "We're all terrified now, especially at night, and wouldn't mind moving further inland."

Lima Strategi Belajar yang Fun Buat Anak (http://sediadisini.com/pengembangan-diri/ilmu-pengetahuan/515-lima-strategi-bagi-anak-anda-agar-belajar-jadi-menyenangkan)

Lima Strategi Belajar yang Fun Buat Anak

Aku sulit berkonsentrasi. Aku cepat lupa.

Strategi Pertama: Bagaimana Mengingat Bacaan Teks. Lima langkah berikut ini dilakukan guna mengingat teks, misalnya pelajaran sejarah atau ilmu bumi:

Langkah 1: Memahami Secara Umum.

Langkah 3: Membaca Secara Mendalam

Strategi Ketiga: Bantuan Menghafal Sajak.

Langkah 1: Mengerti

Bali police question Australian man Michael Sacatides over alleged drug importation

  • By Adam Gartrell
  • October 11, 2010 8:16PM
BALI police have spent a second day questioning an Australian man who is facing a possible death penalty for drug importation.
Michael Sacatides, 43, was arrested at Bali's international airport on October 1 after customs officers found 1.7kg of methamphetamine, or ice, concealed in his luggage.

The kickboxing trainer from Sydney's west arrived on a flight from Thailand, where he currently resides.
But Mr Sacatides denied the drugs - worth an estimated $A390,000 - belonged to him, telling officials he had borrowed the bag from an Indian business associate in Bangkok. Bali police are now working with Interpol to try to find the man.

Mr Sacatides underwent interrogation for the second time today, with the identity and whereabouts of the Indian man a key focus.
Lawyer Erwin Siregar said his client continued to maintain his innocence throughout the questioning at Bali's police headquarters.
“He said he did not know anything about the drugs," Mr Siregar said.
Mr Sacatides could be charged under article 113 of the narcotics laws which carries a maximum penalty of death where the volume of drugs exceeds five grams.

Three Australians - Scott Rush, Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran - are currently on death row in Bali's Kerobokan Prison over a 2005 attempt to smuggle more than 8kg of heroin from Bali to Australia.
All three currently have final appeals before the Indonesian courts.
Another six members of the so-called Bali Nine are serving sentences of between 20 years and life in prison over the foiled plot.
The Gold Coast's Schapelle Corby is also serving 20 years for smuggling 4.1kg of marijuana into Bali in 2004.

Ø      Indonesia Government in this case POLRI have to force the illegal drugs  by the law forceful, we can not tolerance for drugs because it can break our generation continuously, drugs is danger as like as corruptions, so I think the punishment for these criminal is penalty death. Better we lose one soul because of himself  by his criminal than this country lose it generations continuously because of  drugs.
Ø      POLRI also do not want to be bribed by criminals, in order Indonesia Police have dignity in  establishing law in Indonesia criminally.
Ø      We as new generation of this country and world must keep and avoid ourselves and environment from drugs, and always make create good relation with our apparatus to protect our country from an unlawful deed, wherever and whenever.
