Writing is the skill that needs technique, someone can be a writer if he/she always reading because writing comes up after reading and writing is the implementation of readers understanding. Despite that, reading and writing are unity that cannot be separated, both of them are the importance of schemata in developing cognitive about understanding of the form of text.
Writing activity should has purpose so that writers have reasons why and what the functions of writing are. To make easier the writers they have to pay attention to these focuses of writing (Raimes, 1991):
Ø Focus on form/Focus focused approach (1960s). Writing was viewed as a means of reinforcing speech.
Ø Focus on the writer/Process focused approach (1970s). Writing was viewed as a process of constructing personal meaning.
Ø Focus on the content/content based approach (1980s). Writing was viewed as an important academic skill.
Ø Focus on the reader/Audience dominated approach (1980s). Writing was viewed as a text understood by the reader.
Those focuses will guide writers to write in Second Language Acquisitions. Each focus also shows us the level of second language learner.
In teaching process, Teachers have to know and understand the focuses in writing managements, in order that the objectives of learning can be fulfilled through writing activity. The objectives of learning also determine what focus that will used by learners.
Impossible thing if learners want to develop their writing skill in academic purpose by using form focus approach because this approach focuses on grammar comprehension. Writing skill in academic purpose will be applicable by using content based approach.
To support and succeed the learning process in writing skill, learners need extra support from technology tools. The technology usage helps learners to perform independent study involve correction and immediate feedback, in the other words. The second language learners will be successful in second language acquisition if they use technology tools.
